Summer Internship

Investing in Our Youth

As part of its commitment to supporting youth development and workforce readiness, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) partnered with the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) through the school’s Summer Internship Initiative.

Through this partnership, the Commission welcomed Vionte Callwood and K’Moi Nibbs, two Grade 11 Electrical students with an interest in spectrum management and technology. Each student completed a one-month paid internship, gaining meaningful workplace experience while exploring potential future career opportunities.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

During their month-long internships, Vionte and K’Moi divided their time between the Commission’s Spectrum and Technology departments, gaining firsthand exposure to different areas of the TRC’s operations and seeing how the two departments work together within a professional regulatory environment.

Their experience extended beyond technical skills. The students participated in departmental activities, interacted with employees, observed day-to-day operations, and gained a greater understanding of workplace expectations and responsibilities.

Connecting Education with Opportunity

The partnership between ESHS and the Commission provides an opportunity to help bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace, allowing students to explore fields in which they have expressed an interest before making important decisions about further education and career development.

By creating opportunities for young people to explore emerging and specialised career fields, the Commission is helping students connect their academic interests with real-world possibilities while contributing to the development of the Territory’s future workforce.

Looking Ahead

The Commission extends its appreciation to Elmore Stoutt High School, Vionte Callwood, K’Moi Nibbs, and the Spectrum and Technology teams for contributing to a successful summer internship experience.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with Elmore Stoutt High School and creating opportunities that support the professional development of the Territory’s young people.
