Wendell M. Gaskin, CFE
Wendell M. Gaskin is an Accountant by profession and has worked in many departments within the British Virgin Islands Government for well over thirty-eight-(38) years.

In January 1991 he took up employment with the British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation as Senior Assistant Accountant; and also joined the staff at the Hamilton Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) as an Adjunct Professor where he taught Accounting, Auditing, Continuing Education, and other business-related courses. He was also an Instructor and Examiner at the Chartered Management Institute of the United Kingdom.

In September 1991, he was assigned to the Internal Audit Department in the Ministry of Finance. In early 1993, Mr. Gaskin left the Territory and joined the Government of the United States Virgin Islands Legislature as Director of Business Affairs-Chief Fiscal Officer.

After returning to the Territory, he was assigned the post of Financial Comptroller at the British Virgin Island Ports
Authority in 1998. Then in 2000, he was appointed Director of the Internal Audit Department.

In 2007, he served as the Deputy Financial Secretary in the Ministry of Finance for twelve-(12) years. His specific areas of expertise include strategic planning, management, and financial structuring.

Mr. Gaskin is now a retired Senior Civil Servant from the British Virgin Islands Government service. However, in February 2018, he worked for the Government of the United States Virgin Islands as the CFO for one of the largest government agencies and was responsible for a budget of well over 160 million dollars and served in that capacity until February 2019. On July 1, 2020, Mr. Gaskin was appointed as Special Advisor and Consultant to the British Virgin Islands
Government.
He also served as a Member on many Boards, such as:
• HLSCC
• The Ministry of Education
• British Virgin Islands Chamber of Commerce & Hotel Association (BVICCHA)
• Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC)

Moreover, he was also the Chairman of the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority.

Mr. Gaskin is also a business owner as he is the Owner and Managing Director of S.S. Accounting and Consulting
Service Int’l Limited.

In addition, he was also a member of the BVI Festival Committee for well over twenty-five-(25) years. He has served in many of its executive capacities, that is:
• Chairman of the Village Committee
• Chairman of Queen Show Committee
• Treasurer for two separate terms
• One of the longest serving Chairman for the Calypso Committee
• First appointed Treasurer under the now Festival and Fairs Committee of 2005.

He has a wealth of knowledge and years of experience in the related field. He is the holder of the CFE designation from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

In addition to being a past active government worker, he also had interests in politics, sailing, public speaking, sports, reading, and travelling.
